Building is progressing at the OMNI center. Half of the garden there has been covered with cardboard, bamboo leaves, and mulch. This will help condition the soil. We are expecting a load of mulch soon, which can be used to cover what is left. I figure as there is a great lack of initiative and volunteer support, if we just cover the soil and plant some conditioning crops like clover, in the future when there is hopefully more support, the garden can be further developed.
I have been thinking about the great lack of care that our society seems to be content with. What does it take for people to be moved to act, moved to care, moved to take a stand and go the distance it takes to make a difference. Jesus had to go all the way to the cross, sacrificing his life not only up there, but all through out his life because he did not give in to the sins of the world.
Yet we can not even go outside our comfort zone to help? The sad fact is that things will continue to worsen to the point where it becomes black and white - either you will choose to stand for what is right, or you will allow yourself to be content with false securities. Will you care about the state of your soul, and the souls of others?
Earthquakes in Haiti, terroristic attacks in the Middle East, genocide in Africa, satanic drug-based cults in Mexico, homeless people in the town you live in right now, utter environmental destruction in China and all over the world, fear of oppression from corporate powers in the country you live in now.
Is this harsh? Yes. Is it true? Yes.
The question is will you just sit back and be ok with it. Will you be comfortable with the fact that you can take out loans, or please the right people, and get through college and know that you will have a house and a car and nice clothes and maybe some trips overseas someday.
I am not comfortable with that. I don't need that. The truth is God has moved in my life so I know that no matter what I do, I will do it for Him, whatever that may cost. I am one person. You are one person. Many people can make a change. And God is all powerful. With God ALL things are possible!
It is not a question of will these problems be addressed, because Jesus will return. The question is this:
What side are you on, and how far are you willing to go?

Today was the presentation at the Fayetteville Public Library. I have to say, although we didn't get the turn-out we hoped for, it was still a fair amount of people, hopefully some of them become interested in us, and I was impressed by everyone's efforts to make it work so well! Thanks Sarah for helping with the presentation, great job on the video and slideshow Michelle, thanks everyone for getting up and talking- you all presented us well, and great job on the food Havilah, Kelsey and Serena!
This shows with a little cooperation and preparation, we can get our goals accomplished.
I think we are developing some lasting relationships with people and places in the city.
The bamboo garden building project can evolve into a lasting program, wherein we teach people how to use local materials and be resourceful. It can also be profitable, as there are many things that can be made from bamboo.
There is a lot of work to do; I hope this event gives us some momentum to start working harder to make our projects happen!
I plan to work on developing a system for making bamboo builder groups and also to start getting some things accomplished at the OMNI center garden this week. Also, I will be working on the Art Show development and outreach and other fundraising possibilities.
